Lookup a Business Entity
Step 1 – Start
In order to look up a business entity in Alaska you must go to the Secretary of State’s Website.
You will be brought to a webpage that looks like the one below where you can search by Name, Official, or by Registered Agent.

After typing in your search, you will be brought to the results page which will appear like the one below;
Step 2 – Choose Your Entity

Above, you can find the entity you are looking for by viewing its type, number, name, name type, and it’s status with the Secretary of State. In order to view the results page, you will want to click on the dark blue entity number link.

Step 3 – Retrieve Information

You have reached the final step in your pursuit and may be able to freely view the business’s; Type, Number, Status, Formed Date, Expiration Date, State of Incorporation, Biennial Report Date, Mailing Address, Physical Address, Registered Agent (Name, Mailing Address, and Physical Address), Officials, and to view/download all previously filed documents with the Secretary of State.

Step 4 – Steps to form your new Business in Alaska
- Business name availability search (above)
- Internet domain availability search for website and email.
- Choose your entity type (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, or Non-Profit Org)
- Obtain IRS EIN Number (employer identification number). Create New IRS EIN Number
- Create Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws that include describing the business purpose of the entity, naming the registered agent, directors, registered address, operating guidelines, dissolution provisions, and other information.
- Determine if the new entity requires any federal, state, or local business licenses.
- Determine payroll tax requirements.
- Determine federal, state, and local tax filing requirements.
- Establish the business physical and/or mailing address, phone number, voicemail, website, email address, and business cards.
