Lookup a Business Entity
Step 1 – Start
In order to look up any type of business entity (Corporation, LLC, or Limited Partnership) in Idaho, you will need to go to the Secretary of State’s Website.
You will have the option to look up by Name, City, Organizational ID/Filing Number, Registered Agent (Name or City), and the Date of Incorporation.
After choosing the best way to look up your entity, you will be brought to all the matching companies on the Results Page (As Seen Below).
Step 2 – Choose Your Entity

As you can see the page will allow a user to view up to 20 results per page and will show corporations where you can view by clicking on either the green or blue text links. When trying to find what you are looking for, you may be able to view the entity’s Name, Filing Number, Principal Address, Incorporation Date, Type, and it’s Status with the Secretary of State.
After choosing your entity, you will be brought to the Information Page (See Below).

Step 3 – Retrieve Information

This is last step where you may be able to view all the details about the corporation including it’s: Name, Principal Office Address, Type of Business, Status, State of Incorporation, Date of Formation, File Number, and be able to view any and all previous Filings with the Secretary of State.
Step 4 – Steps to form your new Business in Idaho

- Internet domain availability search for website and email.
- Choose your entity type (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, or Non-Profit Org)
- Obtain IRS EIN Number (employer identification number). Create New IRS EIN Number
- Create Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws that include describing the business purpose of the entity, naming the registered agent, directors, registered address, operating guidelines, dissolution provisions, and other information.
- Determine if the new entity requires any federal, state, or local business licenses.
- Determine payroll tax requirements.
- Determine federal, state, and local tax filing requirements.
- Establish the business physical and/or mailing address, phone number, voicemail, website, email address, and business cards.
