Lookup a Business Entity

Step 1 – Start

Search for a business entity (Corporation, LLC, or Limited Partnership) or a trademark/service mark in Nevada by going to the Secretary of State’s Website.

Perform a lookup by Name, Number, Business ID, Officer, and Registered Agent. After selecting which option to go, you will be sent to the Database Results Page (See Sample Below).

Step 2 – Choose Your Entity

As you can see the Database may list duplicates in your results. Nevertheless, it allows you to preview the Name, ID Number, Status, and Type to help you find your business. Once you have found the listing, click on any of the blue text in the row of your entity. This will bring you to the Information Page.

Step 3 – Retrieve Information

Now you may see all the available details listed with the Secretary of State about the entity including its: Legal Name, Status, Filing Date, Type, ID Number, State of Incorporation, Business License Expiration, Registered Agent (Name and Address), Financial Info (Outstanding Shares, Capital Amount, and Par Share Value), and the Officers.

On the bottom of the page will be a blue text link to view previously filed documents by the business.

Step 4 – Steps to form your new Business in Nevada

• Business name availability search (above)
• Internet domain availability search for website and email.
• Choose your entity type (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, or Non-Profit Org)
• Obtain IRS EIN Number (employer identification number).  Create New IRS EIN Number
• Create Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws that include describing the business purpose of the entity, naming the registered agent, directors, registered address, operating guidelines, dissolution provisions, and other information.
• Determine if the new entity requires any federal, state, or local business licenses.
• Determine payroll tax requirements.
• Determine federal, state, and local tax filing requirements.
• Establish the business physical and/or mailing address, phone number, voicemail, website, email address, and business cards.
