Lookup a Business Entity

Step 1 – Start

In Oklahoma, to search for a business entity (Corporation, LLC, Limited Partnership) go to the Secretary of State’s Website where you may look up by Name, Filing Number, Officer, or Registered Agent for free. If you would like to make a bulk order or download the Master List of all the entities on file with the Secretary of State you may do so for $500. You may also purchase a Certificate of Good Standing.

After entering your preferred route of looking up the business you will be brought to the Results Page (See Below).

Step 2 – Choose Your Entity

Now you are able to view all the matching listings from the Database. The Secretary of State gives you a preview of the entities’ Filing Number, Name, Type, Registered Agent, and Legal Status.

When you have decided on the listing that matches the corporation you are trying to find click the blue text link below the ‘Filing Number’.

You will be brought next to the Information Page (See Below).

Step 3 – Retrieve Information

You have completed your search and at this point may be able to view all the information located at the Secretary of State including the entity’s Filing Number, Name Type, Status, Corporation Type, State of Jurisdiction, Incorporation Date, and the Registered Agent (Name and Address).

Step 4 – Steps to form your new Business in Oklahoma

• Business name availability search (above)
• Internet domain availability search for website and email.
• Choose your entity type (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, or Non-Profit Org)
• Obtain IRS EIN Number (employer identification number).  Create New IRS EIN Number
• Create Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws that include describing the business purpose of the entity, naming the registered agent, directors, registered address, operating guidelines, dissolution provisions, and other information.
• Determine if the new entity requires any federal, state, or local business licenses.
• Determine payroll tax requirements.
• Determine federal, state, and local tax filing requirements.
• Establish the business physical and/or mailing address, phone number, voicemail, website, email address, and business cards.
