Lookup a Business Entity

Step 1 – Start

Look up a business entity in Arkansas by going to the Secretary of State’s Website.

On this page (as seen below), you will be able to search a business by the entity: Name, Type (Corporation, Company, Partnership, etc), Registered Agent (Name, City, or State), or by Filing Number.

When you have selected how you would like to find the entity you are looking for in the database, you will see a results page like the one below. The Secretary of State will filter all matching terms and you will be able to view up to 250 results per page (As Seen Below). If there are too many simply go back and make your query more specific.

Step 2 – Find The Entity

Upon previewing the matching entities, you will be able to view its Name, Principal Office City and State, and whether it is in Good Standing. Once you have found the corporation you were seeking, click on the dark green link on the left, and you will be sent to see all the data available about the entity with the Arkansas Secretary of State (see sample below).

Step 3 – Retrieve the Information

On the details page, you can view all but not limited to the Corporation’s Name, Fictitious Name, Type, Status, Principal Address, Registered Agent (Name and Address), Date of Filing, and the Officers.

Step 4 – Steps to form your new Business in Arkansas

• Internet domain availability search for website and email.
• Choose your entity type (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, or Non-Profit Org)
• Obtain IRS EIN Number (employer identification number).  Create New IRS EIN Number
• Create Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws that include describing the business purpose of the entity, naming the registered agent, directors, registered address, operating guidelines, dissolution provisions, and other information.
• Determine if the new entity requires any federal, state, or local business licenses.
• Determine payroll tax requirements.
• Determine federal, state, and local tax filing requirements.
• Establish the business physical and/or mailing address, phone number, voicemail, website, email address, and business cards.
